This was a Christmas commission created for one of my client's sons. There is a story behind this. The boy noticed, while going to Royals games throughout the season, that many of the players would point to the sky when they hit a home run or got a big hit in the game. He felt that it was a truly special thing that he found inspiration in. He told his mom about it, and she got an idea. After the Kansas City Royals won the World Series, she contacted me through Facebook after seeing some of my artwork that I posted in several of the groups. She told me about this idea, and I immediately ran with it!
This artwork contains the boy's favorite players: Ben Zobrist, Lorenzo Cain, Alcides Escobar, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Salvador Perez, and Alex Gordon. Most of the images are of the players giving glory to "The Man Upstairs" or someone who they lost, and look to for guidance, or to pay tribute to. These players inspired the boy, and the boy inspired his mother to think about it, and the mother inspired me to create it! The 2015 Kansas City Royals were a very special team. They were a band of brothers that "kept the line moving" until they made it all the way to the top as World Series Champions!
The original artwork has been sold. Prints of the artwork are available. The prints are 18 x 24 inches, and are printed on 100 lb. gloss poster stock. I will be signing the prints in the lower right hand corner. The prints are $40 each plus shipping and handling.
